Strict Client-Side Privacy

Unlike typical online text tools, your text is never transmitted over the internet or logged by remote APIs. Everything runs in-memory on your CPU.

Accurate Unicode Code Points

Full multi-byte Unicode and emoji character awareness prevents surrogate-pair miscounts common in older legacy word counters.

Reading & Speaking Benchmarks

Calibrated on standard silent reading speeds (200 WPM) and clear speaking pacing (130 WPM) for speech drafts and essay planning.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Automated Readability Index (ARI)?

The Automated Readability Index estimates how hard a text is to read and maps the score to a US school grade. It is calculated as 4.71 × (letters and digits ÷ words) + 0.5 × (words ÷ sentences) − 21.43, so longer words and longer sentences raise the score.

What does WPM mean for reading and speaking time?

WPM stands for words per minute. Reading time assumes 200 WPM and speaking time assumes 130 WPM. Both estimates round up to the next full minute, so any text shows at least 1 minute.

How are Unicode characters and emoji counted?

Characters are counted as Unicode code points, so a single emoji such as 😀 counts as 1 instead of 2. Emoji built from several code points, such as flags and family emoji, count once per code point. The Characters total includes whitespace, while No Spaces leaves it out.
